Good day, Sisters! I’m so glad you are at our blog today. Whether you’re reading this right now from a place of peace and joy or clicked in with a heavy and hungry heart, I believe that God wants to meet you here – right now – to minister to you in a deep way.
Today’s post is by Jemma Stemmons, from our Oklahoma City, OK LifeChurch.tv campus. Jemma is simply on fire for Jesus. God’s Word has transformed her. I pray you’ll be as blessed by her encouragement to you today. ~ Amy
We all get excited about fresh, new starts. In an effort to begin anew, we often set goals; professional goals, health and fitness goals, spiritual goals, etc.
One goal that I set each year that has transformed my life is seeking God and reading my Bible daily.
I grew up in the church. I memorized bible verses, sang hymns and knew a lot about God. But it wasn’t until my 30’s that I truly developed a relationship with Him through reading the Bible. God showed me that He is a gracious and loving Father and how much He loves me. He showed an extremely insecure girl that she not only was forgiven, but chosen and adored by The King of Kings. God spoke directly to my heart. For the first time in my life, I KNEW God, not just stories about Him.
God’s word is truth. It’s the only Truth.
When we read and meditate on God’s Word, He implants His truths deep in our hearts, where true transformation occurs.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32
Psalm 119 (the longest chapter in the bible) expounds on how wonderful and vital God’s word is.
I want to share with you a list I made about the supremacy of God’s Word from this amazing chapter:
Brings blessing to those who: Walk in it, keep it, and seek it
Reveals sin and unfaithfulness
Revives & gives life
Promises mercy and grace
Is faithful & sure
Is forever – standing firm in the heavens
Gives wisdom & insight
Is forever before me
Teaches me & gives understanding
Lights my path
Reveals my heritage
My hiding place
Establishes & directs my steps
There is nothing like sitting before the Author of our lives and letting Him speak to us directly. Make it a priority to read your Bible every day!
