Faith for Today

Sisters, I’m thrilled that you’ve joined our blog today! We have the honor of having our brother in Christ, Jonathan, share with us. Jonathan serves as a LifeGroups/Missions Pastor at LifeChurch.tv OKC and has an incredible heart to daily build up the Body of Christ. I pray you’ll be blessed by his words. They really hit home with me.

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with one of our servant leaders at LifeChurch.tv OKC to talk about mentoring and pouring into the lives of others. Eventually, the conversation turned to a discussion about our faith and how they had seen faith in their own life.

The leader stated,

“I have faith from the past because I can see where God was faithful. I have faith for the future because I know that God is good and in control. It is in the present, in the now, that my faith wavers the most.”

This statement blew me away, because I found it to be true often in my own life. I too have seen the faithfulness of God in the past, and I have faith in Christ for my future and the future of my family; but it is in the now – when the ground is shaking, when it’s uneasy to know where my foot will step next -that I forget about Christ inside of me.

This could be why the Apostle Paul wrote,

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT

There is joy to be found in every circumstance, if we search with eyes of faith.

Oftentimes that searching is found through prayer.

Prayer exposes us.

It’s not only where God reveals the root of our pain and insecurities, but also where we are exposed to the truth – Christ is with us.

Joyful faith for today is actually found in of the uneasiness, uncertainty, and fear of life. Remember, faith is having certainty in the midst of what we cannot see, hear, or know.

Ultimately, we experience joy through our faith in the moments we discover that we aren’t searching for the answers, but we have a relationship with THE ANSWER.

Christ is The Answer to any and every circumstance that life throws at us!

Therefore, we are joyful because the LIGHT inside of us pierces the darkness that attempts to overtake us.

Sisters, never stop praying… knowing that God will reveal more and more to us; not with the answers that we desire but with the answers that He desires for us.

Faith for today is the collision of our past experiences with God, and the future hope we have in Him.

Let’s not live in the past or the future but embrace the present uncertainties with joyful faith – holding fast to the promise that “we belong to Christ.”

SISTERS CHALLENGE

What’s going on in your life right now that you need faith for?

Are you following God’s will for you? 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Are you joyful and thankful in the midst of your circumstance?

Are you praying continually about it?

Whatever the burden is, Christ is with you and He is The Answer.

Sister, it’s time to pray.

This blog was exactly what I needed to share. I am a new follower of the Sisters blog, and already have found it to be a blessing! Thank you for the work you are doing for everyone. In Christ, R.
