Are You at Your Wits’ End?

Do you have an aching heart today? I believe that this poem that I read in Streams in the Desert, a daily devotional reading, may be just for you. I am praying for you, dear Sister. I am so sorry that your heart is heavy.

I love you. ~Amy

Wits End

“Wits’ End Corner”

By Antoinette Wilson

Are you standing at “Wits End Corner,”

Christian with troubled brow?

Are you thinking of what is before you,

And all you are bearing now?

Does all the world seem against you,

And you in the battle alone?

Remember— at “Wits’ End Corner”

Is just where God’s power is shown.

Are you standing at “Wits’ End Corner,”

Blinded with wearying pain,

Feeling you cannot endure it,

You cannot bear the strain,

Bruised through the constant suffering,

Dizzy, and dazed, and numb?

Remember — at “Wits’ End Corner”

Is where Jesus loves to come.

Are you standing at “Wits’ End Corner”?

Your work before you spread,

All lying begun, unfinished,

And pressing on heart and head,

Longing for strength to do it,

Stretching out trembling hands?

Remember —at “Wits’ End Corner

The Burden Bearer stands.

Are you standing at “Wits’ End Corner”?

Then you’re just in the very spot

To learn the wondrous resources

Of Him who fails you not:

No doubt to a brighter pathway

Your footsteps will soon be moved,

But only at “Wits’ End Corner”

Is the “God who is able” proved.

“…They were at their wits’ end.

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,

and he brought them out of their distress.

He stilled the storm to a whisper;

the waves of the sea were hushed.

They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.

Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.”

Psalm 107: 27-31

Thank you. I do need this right now. Please pray for my family & finances. I feel like I’m at the breaking point.

I sit completely frozen at my keyboard as I falter between wanting to lay my head down and wanting to keep it up. I am tired, I am blank, I am ashamed, I am unsure. I’m tired from all of life’s daily routines of being a working toddler boy mom. I’m blank on the inside where normally I am filled with joyous and loving thoughts. I’m ashamed of feeling like I am not enough when God says I am perfect. I’m unsure of how to get out of this place I am in when I don’t feel like I have the strength to pray it away.

So thank you, for sharing this. To know that when my heart is heavy, so is the heart of God for me. He walks with me and I know that even when I don’t have the strength to push through in prayer, he already knows the weariness in my heart, because He is already there.
